There have been talks of a new medical school; the joint La Trobe and CSU rural 'Murray Darling Medical School' and there is a strong possibility that the Turnbull Government will announce funding for this in the coming weeks.
Since 2005, medical graduate numbers around the country have doubled and a new medical school will exacerbate the bottleneck that graduates face from simply obtaining an internship to further training while the $46 million dollars would be better spent investing in rural training pathways now.
So what you can do about it?
From Monday 21st - Thursday 24th March AMSA will be conducting a national calling and mail campaign so take only 5 minutes out of your day and let your local MP and senators know what you think.
