Team Representation

Team Representation is the external representation branch of the AMSS. We advocate to the Australian Medical Association (SA), Australian Medical Students' Association, South Australian Institute of Medical Education and Training and other organisations and groups.

In 2013, Team Representation is being headed up by:

• Vice President (Education) - Thomas Crowhurst
• AMA(SA) Representative - Shane Selvanderan
• AMSA Senior Representative - Alyssa Parsons
• AMSA Junior Representative - Matt Arnold
• SAIMET Representative 

Team Representation advocates on and is involved with issues including:

• increased student numbers
• quality of clinical training placements
• internship availability and allocation
• health and wellbeing of medical students
• student professionalism
• student registration

Issues

Internship Availability

As you would well be aware, the numbers of medical students graduating are starting to approach our current availability of internships across Australia. AMSA has been quite vocal in this area. The following will help you to better understand this big issue:

Internship Allocation

In conjunction with the FMSS, the AMSS conducted a survey of students about Internship allocation across the summer of 2011. The results will be compiled in the coming months and a report submitted to SAIMET in time for their March review of the current system. Check back here soon to read a copy of our submission.

Meetings

Team Rep meetings are open to all who wish to attend and are a chance for you to gain a better understanding of the issues as well as contribute towards policy (where relevant) for AMSA.
