Welcome to the 2026 Peer 2 Peer Program!
Docendo discimus! By teaching, we learn.
Peer 2 Peer is an inter-year teaching and mentoring program run by the Adelaide Medical Students’ Society (AMSS), designed to connect first- and second-year students with experienced mentors in fourth, fifth, and sixth year. Whether you’re a student looking for support or a tutor eager to give back, Peer 2 Peer is your chance to build meaningful connections and strengthen our med school community.
For First and Second Years: SIGN UP HERE!
Starting med school can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Through Peer 2 Peer, you’ll be matched with senior students who can guide you through academic content, share study resources, and offer practical advice for navigating medical school life.
- First years will get an introduction to SBLs, anatomy tips, learning strategies, and a friendly face to ask “silly” questions.
- Second years will benefit from clinical insights, pharmacology and pathology explanations, and high-yield exam strategies — all from people who’ve been through it themselves.
For Tutors: SIGN UP HERE!
Are you passionate about teaching? Keen to leave a legacy? Or maybe you’re just looking for an excuse to fund your next Lyell Mac parking permit? Whatever your motivation, Peer 2 Peer is the perfect opportunity to give back while developing your teaching skills.
As a tutor, you’ll be matched with a group of first- or second-year students to run tutorials, share survival tips, and guide them through high-yield content. You can tutor solo, with a partner (ideal), or as a group of three — it’s up to you. Tutorials can be face-to-face or online, as often as you and your students like.
To support you, we’ve created a Tutor Guide with suggested structures, learning outcomes, and topic frameworks. Plus, we’ve introduced tutor rewards:
- $50 after logging your first four tutorials (maybe take your group out for coffee!)
- $100 bonus for top-performing teams in terms of tutorials and teaching time
Why Peer 2 Peer?
- Build lasting connections across year levels
- Strengthen your own understanding through teaching
- Support your fellow students and pay it forward
- Get recognition (and rewards!) for your time and effort
Growing Bigger in 2026:
P2P has been a fantastic way to connect Years 1 and 2 with mentors in Years 4, 5 and 6... and we’re not stopping there.
In 2026, we’re hoping to open the program up to Year 3 students and further integrate tutor involvement, building an even stronger culture of mentorship across the school. Of course, this growth depends on senior mentor and tutor sign-ups, so the more of you who get involved, the bigger and better we can make it!
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at edprograms@amss.org.au.
